Great question. I've honestly been working on this one myself. I'm a User Experience Designer. I grew up in Chicago and studied Human Centered Design in Seattle. I'm looking for my next project! I also do Improv (what's improv?), produce sketch comedy videos, run long distances, and listen at unreasonable volumes.
Why UX Design? I love learning about people; how people think, how they form goals and relationships with each other, what motivates them, what frustrates them, where they find joy -- it's interesting to me. Learning enough about a person to make something that makes their life better is a deeply fulfilling practice to me.
I'm looking to design technology with an awareness for the huge diversity of needs, thoughts, and values that exist in this world. And I look forward to learning and growing as a person along the way.
Spring 2017 - Now
I help design tools for students. Right now, I'm in the research phase designing a tool to help redistribute leftover food from events to hungry students struggling to afford food. I'm also improving the process of finding a study abroad program. I've created a video showcasing the functionality of one of our apps, Scout, and a handful of other projects to improve the "Husky Experience".
Fall 2016 - Winter 2017
I independently designed and built a web tool to help non-profits identify the most valuable social media outlets to use based on the demographics of their target donor.
During my time at Glantz, I worked on a bunch of different projects. I helped restructure the navigation of sites, made high fidelity mockups for clients, designed safety posters for a manufacturing company, and more. I interacted directly with multiple clients and worked both independently and in small teams to iterate and come up with targeted solutions. I also made 2 videos that show how fun Glantz is to work at!
I taught elementary school kids how to code games, animations, and more. We used Scratch and code.org.
I spend my free time doing things that are really fun for me. Here are a few!
2014 - Now
I perform with UW's Improv Troupe. The audience yells suggestions at us and we perform scenes that we make up completely on the spot. We perform shows almost every Friday. I have also directed and produced about 15 sketch comedy videos for the troupe, which you can see on our YouTube Channel.
2014 - 2016
I played a character named "Yancy" in a 22-episode mockumentary web series about a boyband that's terrible at playing music.
2016 - Now
I am a member of student organization that advocates for global health issues by educating the community and raising funds for our partner organization through on-campus events. I also designed our website.
2010 - 2014
As the Team Captain of my high school speech team, I regularly coached team members by working through speeches and giving feedback. I was a Finalist in 20+ invitational tournaments, and also WON the Illinois State Championship in 2014
